Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth on the Eastern Cape in south Africa is known by a few different names. PE for short, more recently the Nelson Mandela Bay and nicknamed both ‘the Friendly City’ and ‘the Windy City’. Port Elizabeth is best known for its many beaches and is a great place for family vacations, offering activities to suit each member of the family as well as plenty of group activities at affordable rates.

The city of Port Elizabeth

The city centre is made up of a combination of modern day and historical buildings. Places you’ll get to see are an old 19th century home from the original settlers, the Victorian Feather Market, built during the ostrich feather boom, a beautiful Victorian library, the statue of Queen Victoria herself and a statue dedicated to the mysterious Prester John. Port Elizabeth is also filled with museums dedicated to the towns interesting past and has an aquarium, currently helping the development of two captive dolphins.
